CylSolve is a pocket companion for sizing double-acting hydraulic cylinders. It bundles seven fast checks — thrust, sealing, tube thickness, rod buckling, port holes, fixings and flow — with sliders you drag and results you read straight away. All calculations run on your device, in metric units (mm, bar, kN, L/min). No account is required.

What does the app do?
CylSolve gives first-pass numbers for hydraulic cylinder work. Open any of the seven checks, drag the sliders to match your build, and read the answer: thrust out and back, seal compound picks, minimum tube wall, rod buckling risk, port hole sizing, mount selection and pump flow.
Which checks are included?
- Push-Pull Power — what the cylinder can lift or press
- Seal Picker — a compound for your heat and bar
- Tube Wall Safety — how thick before the barrel yields
- Rod Bend Risk — will the rod hold under compression?
- Port Hole Sizing — the right hole for your litres
- Mount Selector — which fixing carries the load best

Which units does it use?
Metric throughout: millimetres, bar, kilonewtons and litres per minute.
How accurate is it?
The app uses classic formulas (thin-tube hoop stress, Euler and Johnson column curves, oil-speed-led port holes). It is handy for early sizing and sanity checks. The final word always belongs to the cylinder maker's own buckling charts, seal tables and certified calculations.
Do I need an account or a subscription?
No. There is no account, no sign-in, no subscription and no in-app purchase. All calculator features work out of the box, and every calculation runs locally on your device.
Why does iOS ask whether CylSolve may track my activity?
CylSolve uses an analytics service to understand how the tools are used, and iOS therefore shows you a tracking consent prompt. Your choice does not change any calculator feature — if you decline, everything still works. You can read the details in the Privacy Policy.
Which devices are supported?
CylSolve requires an iPhone running iOS 15 or later. It is designed for portrait orientation.
