Privacy Policy for CylSolve
CylSolve ("the App") is a hydraulic cylinder calculator for iPhone. This Privacy Policy explains how the developer of CylSolve ("we", "us", or "our") handles information when you use the App. All calculator math runs on your device; this policy covers the limited data that leaves your device and the information stored on it.
1. Information the App Transmits
The App communicates with services over the internet. Depending on how you use it, the following information is transmitted:
- Usage analytics. We use a third-party analytics service (Adjust) to understand how the tools are used. When the App communicates with this service it sends technical and usage data, including a device identifier (the vendor identifier; and the advertising identifier only if you allow tracking as described in Section 3), the iOS version, session counts and timing, and events such as which screens you use.
- Data from the embedded web experience. Parts of the App's content are delivered as an embedded web experience. If you use account features or complete transactions there, related identifiers you provide (for example a user ID, phone number, or email address) and transaction details (for example amount and currency) may be transmitted to the analytics service together with the events above.
- Configuration and availability checks. To deliver the right content, the App downloads a small configuration file from our cloud storage and performs an availability check. As with any internet request, your IP address is transmitted in the process; for the availability check, a third-party geolocation service (ipinfo.io) derives your country from it. The result is used on your device to decide which content to present. We do not build a profile of your location.
We do not collect or transmit the numbers you enter into the calculators, your contacts, photos, camera, microphone, or any other device content.
2. Information Stored on Your Device
The App stores your calculator settings, interface preferences and small technical counters (for example session counts) locally on your device using Apple's standard app storage. This information stays on your device, is not uploaded as calculator data, and is deleted when you delete the App.
3. Tracking and the Advertising Identifier
iOS may show you a prompt asking whether CylSolve may track your activity across other companies' apps and websites. If you allow tracking, your advertising identifier is shared with the analytics service and may be used for attribution and measurement. If you decline, the advertising identifier is not used. Your choice does not affect any calculator feature.
4. Third-Party Services
The App and this website rely on the following third parties, each of which may process standard technical information (such as IP address and request logs) under its own privacy policy:
- Adjust (adjust.com) — usage analytics and attribution.
- ipinfo.io — country lookup for availability checks.
- Amazon Web Services — cloud hosting of the App's configuration file.
- Cloudflare — hosting of this support and privacy website.
- Apple — App Store services, including download and crash information, under Apple's own privacy policy.
5. Embedded Web Content
Parts of the App's content are provided as embedded web pages from third parties. Those pages may have their own terms, features and data practices, which we do not control. Please review the information presented within that content itself.
6. Support Communications
If you contact us by email, we receive your email address and any information you include in your message. We use this information only to respond to your request and troubleshoot the issue. We do not sell or share it. We retain support emails only for as long as needed to resolve the request, unless a longer retention period is required by law.
7. Children's Privacy
The App is an engineering tool and is not directed at children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13 (or the applicable age in your jurisdiction). If you believe that a child has provided personal information to us, please contact us and we will delete it.
8. Your Privacy Rights
You may contact us at any time to ask what analytics data is associated with your device or account, to request its deletion, or to withdraw consent. Where you live (for example in California, the European Economic Area, or the United Kingdom), you may have additional rights under local privacy laws. We do not sell personal information.
9. Data Retention and Security
Analytics data is retained by our analytics provider according to its service settings and your choices. Support emails are retained as described in Section 6. Device-local data remains on your device until you delete the App. We use HTTPS for network communication; however, no method of electronic storage or transmission is completely secure.
10. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make changes, we will post the updated policy at this URL and update the "Last updated" date. Continued use of the App after the changes means you accept the updated policy. We encourage you to review this page periodically.
